October 2018

October was a better month for me. I started taking my liquid study drugs on Friday, October 5, 2018. I was glad that I was back on these drugs as I had been off for five weeks. In addition to study drugs, I was able to start my injections again which kept my blood thin. At the end of the month I had a hearing test, a respiratory test, and an MRI. I met Dr. Pitz on Friday, November 2, 2018, and was told that there has been no change in my remaining brain tumour. I was grateful that everything had stayed the same since August. I have now been taken off of my chemo drugs since they have regularly dropped my platelet and white blood cell counts, but continue to take my liquid study drugs. My hope is that I will be able to stay on the liquid drugs on a regular basis. Moving forward.

My dad is still in the hospital in Rehab. He started working on physiotherapy, then sadly developed another infection and was in isolation for another week. His infection is now gone and he is continuing to work with a physiotherapist to get better. As often as I can, I visit dad and spend time with mom.

In addition to spending much time with my mom and dad, I have also gone out with many friends. I was excited about going to the Grannies Gone Global board meeting and supporting the new leaders – Laura Perrella and Michelle Procter. I also enjoyed going to the Jets game with my friend Colleen and watching the Jets win! In particular, my dear grandson Finn had a birthday. He now is two years old. My husband and I always have lots of fun spending time with him.
